So far I had not considered what to see in Hoces del Duratón. I always visited him with a shot, taking a walk through the Hermitage of San Frutos and even sometimes renting a canoe to be able to cross it to the head of the reservoir. With all this I kept watching its great walls, but almost always from the same points as the rest of the people and these did not have to be the most beautiful of all. Our last trip tried exactly this, to look for new viewpoints in search of the perfect postcard.

Visit to the sickles

We are in the province of Segovia and very close to localities as emblematic as Sepulveda ó Pedraza. Places with a beautiful old town and where one of the best lambs in the country is savored. But we have not come to this place to eat, but to walk and see one of the most beautiful landscapes of the province, the Duraton Sickles. A river born in the Community of Madrid after falling 40 meters high from the stream of the Litueros, near the town of We are.

Points of Interest - Hoces del Duratón

The Hoces del Duratón have a length of 25 kilometers full of large gorges that reach 100 meters high and at the end of this water overflow thanks to the Burgomillodo reservoir. A place that reminds me a lot of the Duero lasarribes and that not only its beauty attracts tourists but its ornithological wealth, housing species such as griffon vulture, vultures, hawks and even golden eagles.

The best views of Hoces del Duratón

Plan what to see in the Duraton Sickles They require specific visiting hours in order to obtain the best light and, if possible, avoid mass tourism, which in some places is overwhelming. These places ordered without a special order will need to be visited on foot mostly and sometimes travel a long and winding dirt track, which in 100% of cases we can travel with tourism.

1 Hermitage of San Frutos

We start with the most visited site of the Sickles. Place that I recommend visiting early in the day and never late in the afternoon because we will find the canyon in the shade and with the sun burning all our photographs. This was part of the filming of the third season of the House of Paper, so it has become fashionable again.

To get there we have to go to Villaseca, from where there is a well-marked dirt road to a parking lot. Once in the parking lot, a path of just over a kilometer will leave us in the hermitage.

The trail starts downhill, finding a beautiful viewpoint on our right side, right at the first bend and leaving the main trail.
